Our History
Our mission started on February 17, 2007 when Mike uploaded his very first Catholic-content video onto YouTube under the channel name The Catholic Guy. At the time, there was a trend going around YouTube called "The Blasphemy Challenge", which encouraged teenagers and young adults to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit in order to commit the "unforgivable sin" that Jesus spoke about in the Gospels. The video was extremely popular (one million+ views) and, sadly, many teens participated in it.., making videos of themselves denouncing the Holy Spirit, Jesus, God, and religion altogether. In exchange, they were promised a t-shirt (most never received it though) and "street credit" in the YouTube community. It was extremely disturbing. The video still remains on YouTube, collecting views and encouraging souls to blaspheme. It was in response to such aggressive anti-Christian tactics from atheists on YouTube that Catholics (and Christians) started launching their own channels and videos in an attempt to promote the Catholic faith. And so, "The Catholic Guy" channel was created.
On June 21, 2007, Kate became a partner in the mission and the channel was renamed "WeVlog", before being renamed once again as "Kate & Mike Catholic Crusade'' in 2013. The Kate & Mike Catholic Crusade channel continues to serve as a Catholic evangelical channel today (fourteen years and going), along with our Catholic prayer channel - "The Catholic Crusade" - and (soon-to-be) our Spanish-language Catholic channel, "Siempre Spanish" (which is planned to be reinvented into a Spanish prayer channel in late 2021/early 2022). Collectively, all three of these channels make up our mission - The Catholic Crusade.
Today, The Catholic Crusade is a full-time mission and, for Mike, his vocation. In June 2021, in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, Mike resigned as a middle school Spanish teacher to accept the Lord's call to focus exclusively on the mission. Kate, the co-founder of the mission, continues to serve as an active participant and contributor.

We often receive inquiries from supporters asking how they can assist our mission. It sincerely warms our hearts when people reach out to us wanting to offer support. Here are some ways in which you can help (if willing):
- Pray for our mission. As with every Christian organization, the devil hates us and seeks our demise.
- Pray for us as individuals. We especially ask for your prayers for the grace of humility and a spirit of servitude.
- Tell others about us. It is becoming increasingly difficult to be discovered on YouTube and other social media platforms.
- Invest in our mission. Though we do not ask for donations, any donations received are used for our expenses.
